An optional feature called door edge protector will be available on the new Ford Focus models when it arrives in Ireland. It is also on the new Ford Focus ST which arrives in Ireland in September, writes Padraic Deane.

New car sales are slightly up on last year according to the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI), however, Mayo bucked that trend with sales down 14 per cent for the year. SIMI has warned however, that the figures need to be put in the context of a market showing relatively low sales overall.

Ford Ireland is boasting of its package of special offers that look set to keep its showrooms busy over the coming months.

Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind officially launched their annual fundraising car draw at the Cork City Ford Centre on Forge Hill. The winning prize in the 2012 draw is a brand new Ford Focus valued at €20,000, which was generously donated by Ford Ireland.
